Owner

Denise McIntosh

Denise started Genesis Kitchens & Design in 2007 after being in the design industry since 1994.

She started by taking Interior Design at BCIT and The Certified Technical Course through Constructions Specifications Canada. Denise worked as a product Specifications Representative for a number of companies specializing in architectural Millwork through the 90’s. She worked closely with millwork shops, countertop manufactures, designers and architects to help select the right products for the right application.

Through this experience Denise found her passion in designing kitchens for the residential market and decided to start a company that took the evolution of the kitchen from a concept idea to the finished product.

Denise has assembled a full design team at Genesis and they will work with you to help turn your dream kitchen into a reality.

General Manager / Outdoor Kitchen Designer

Ben McIntosh

Ben is a Drexel University graduate who studied at the Lebow College of Business. He started working at Genesis in 2012 to help the company out during his summer holidays while going to school.  For as long as he can remember he has had a passion for entertaining friends, family, and getting people together to socialize outdoors. Because of this Ben has become a grilling enthusiast who happens to be an avid fan of Rob Rainford and his show “License to Grill”.  Upon graduating from Drexel, Ben took his interest in entertaining and outdoor grilling and built a business plan for Genesis Kitchens & Design to expand to outdoor kitchens.  Using a similar model for growing Genesis’ indoor kitchen & bath business, Ben and Denise secured the dealership rights for an outdoor cabinet line, worked with countertop companies to identify products that work outdoors, solidified an outdoor appliance vendor, and began building relationships with landscape architects.

Since then Ben has educated himself and become very proficient at designing outdoor kitchens. Through his experience he has learned that there is more than meets the eye when designing an outdoor kitchen and attention to the details is paramount.  Now with multiple outdoor cabinet lines and partnerships he’s built in the industry, he is well on his way to becoming an outdoor kitchen expert and has been featured in local newspapers and national magazine on the topic.

Outdoor Kitchens are not Ben’s only passion he also plays professional lacrosse in the National Lacrosse League and is an avid crib player.

Sarka Kump

Sarka started her career as a realtor, showing so many homes with so many dysfunctional kitchen layouts it turned her interests into the art of kitchen design. Making a step into a more creative field of work was a natural step for Sarka because of her love of design and art as she also was a jewelry designer and artist who paints commissioned paintings for people. Client’s comment on Sarka as being very detailed, professional, and very personable, “She was always there when we had changes or questions. I have already recommended her for another friend. The only regret we have is that we didn’t do this sooner.”

When Sarka isn’t enriching peoples lives with her creative talent you can find her with her family cooking wild mushrooms they found while hiking up in Whistler, snowmobiling and enjoying life to the fullest! We are so lucky to have Sarka as a Genesis Kitchens & Design family member.

Kitchen & Bathroom Designer

Ashley Conick

Ashley’s passion for interiors started at an early age when she would tag along with her mother, an interior designer, and in 2014 was hired as her assistant.  That paved her way into the complex world of cabinet manufacturing where she grew the knowledge of not only how cabinets are manufactured, but how to piece everything together to create a functional yet beautiful space.  She has since worked with HGTV’s “Love it or List it Vancouver” and “Worst to First” and has designed an award winning showroom for a major cabinet manufacturer in the Lower Mainland.  She offers inspiration to all of our projects and likes to bend the rules with her designs yet adhering to the guidelines that the NKBA puts forth.  Looking for something interesting for your kitchen project?  Ashley just might be the perfect fit!

Nikki has worked in many different sectors of the interior design industry starting with kitchen design, moving to multi-family design, closet and storage design, then was a sales rep selling luxury plumbing products and then back full circle to kitchen design.

“I’ve always loved the puzzle of designing a kitchen! It’s the challenge of combining the needs that your clients bring to you, while incorporating the elements and principles of interior design to create a functional and aesthetically pleasing space. I like to collaborate with my clients on a job to design a kitchen or bathroom they will use everyday that fits within their budget.”
